Filippo Fiumani is an Italian designer and artist, born in 1987 in Loreto, Italy. He has worked as a visual artist and street artist since 2002. His wide range of influences mixing street art, trash, digital art, painting, photography, video and technology helped him to create his own unique aesthetic.
Fiumani explores the tension between structure and randomness. His DIY ethos and unapologetic self-expression works like gasoline on an artistic fire of complex jazz harmonies merged with the raw power of punk rock.
In painting, his brightly colored palette and vandalistic brushstrokes ignites the canvas with life, energy, and story. Battle-worn figures stand with raised fists ready to engage with chaos and order, existing simultaneously and in equal measure. Random symbols read like hieroglyphic road signs for a compelling journey that is both strange and familiar.
In sculpture, his words are written in colorful neon lights, resonating with our symbolic world and often deconstructed in order to liberate their meaning from the constraints of the norm. His video screens are populated with moving eyes that scan the world beyond the frame, engaging with the viewer through a digital soul that, like a mirror, self reflects and begs the question: “Who the fuck am I?”.
Testing the physical limits of traditional masculine materials, Fiumani reveals a delicate vulnerability. In an era dominated by disposable technology and fleeting digital interactions, the allure of exotic materials among a concrete jungle becomes a poignant expression of defiance. Here, amidst the chaos of these synthetic landscapes, emerges an oasis of raw craftsmanship and tactile beauty.
Ultimately, Fiumani hauls his artistic form and message from the depths of his experience, transforming his understanding of the world using a relentless pursuit of self-expression, authenticity, and evolution.
Fiumani’s art studio is based in Lisbon, Portugal.
